As the caretaker minister for Relief Rehabilitation & Settlement Department in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, I am committed to ensuring that those affected by natural disasters, conflict, and displacement receive the support they need to recover and rebuild their lives. Our ministry will work tirelessly to provide emergency relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction services, and to promote sustainable and inclusive development across the province. We believe that every individual has the right to a dignified life, and we will do everything in our power to uphold this principle.
Our mission is to provide effective and efficient relief and rehabilitation services to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during times of natural and man-made disasters. We recognize that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is one of the most disaster-prone areas in this region, and that natural and man-made disasters including earthquakes, floods, droughts, landslides, fires, industrial accidents, displacements, and complex humanitarian emergencies have caused great misery and suffering in our province in recent years. Climate change and shifts in monsoon patterns are posing new challenges for our province causing damage in areas not previously affected. The indications are that extreme events will occur with greater frequency and intensity in the future and we must be prepared for all eventualities.
Our comprehensive approach to disaster management prioritizes disaster risk reduction (DRR), preparedness, and development of adequate disaster response mechanisms, as well as climate change adaptation. We are committed to working closely with our stakeholders and partners to ensure that these initiatives receive priority attention in all planning and development.
We are committed to ensuring that our relief and rehabilitation services are delivered in an effective, efficient, and timely manner, with a focus on meeting the needs of the most vulnerable and marginalized members of our society. Moreover, we have a clear vision to rehabilitate and rebuild the districts that have recently been merged. This will be done with a "build back better and smarter" approach, which aims to improve service delivery and infrastructure for the people living in the merged districts.
We are determined to promoting an inclusive and participatory approach to disaster management, which involves working closely with communities and civil society organizations to build resilience and ensure that their needs and perspectives are fully considered in all our activities.
I wholeheartedly endorse these initiatives and the provincial caretaker government is unwaveringly dedicated to achieving our objective of establishing a Disaster Resilient Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. We extend a warm welcome and express our gratitude for the invaluable support of our stakeholders and partners who have steadfastly supported us during all difficult and challenging circumstances.
